Reading:  Identify the main topic of a multiparagraph text as well as the focus of specific paragraphs within the text.

Math:  End of Module 2 test, place value

Writing:  Lab Reports and Science Books

Homework:  Please study spelling words each night and read the passage on back of the words.

We are sending home Book It forms this week.  Your child will be asked to read 8 books during the month.  Have them fill out the form, a parent sign and then they will receive a pizza coupon when it is returned.

This Week in Room 11 -- September 18-22

This week we are learning:

Reading:  Describe how a character responds to major events or challenges

Writing:  Narratives

Math:  Measurement

Spelling Words:  cling, stung, thank, honk, wink, long, drink, fang, flunk, bring

This year my students are earning Brag Tags.  They earn them for good behavior, good attitudes, clean desks, losing a tooth and even holidays.  They wear them on Fridays.  Be sure and ask your child about their brag tags!

This week we are learning the following skills:

Reading: Determine the meaning of words and phrases in a text

Spelling:  open syllables

Math:  place value

Language:  adverbs

Homework:

Daily:  Study spelling words and sight words

Monday:  reading

Tuesday:  math

Wednesday:  language, get test papers signed and return on Thursday

This week we are continuing many of our skills from last week.

Reading:  Describe how words and phrases supply rhythm and meaning in a story, poem, or song

Spelling:  Milk Truck rule

Language:  Produce, expand, and rearrange complete compound sentences.

Math:  Place Value

This week we are studying digraph blends and three letter blends.  I am sorry.  I did not get my copies back until we were walking out the door.  I will send home the list on Tuesday. Here are our spelling words for this week.
